Zombie Mania - Left 4 Dead VS mode
After months of planning, the long awaited Zombie Mania is finally here! Take part in one of Singapore's coolest Left 4 Dead events and stand to win prizes worth up to SGD$400! Whether you're a professional player, or a casual gamer looking for some fun, Zombie Mania is the event YOU want to be at.
Date: 25th April, Saturday (Day 1) & 26th April, Sunday (Day 2)
*Top 8 Finalist from Day 1 will proceed to Day 2.
Time: Event starts at 1:00pm
*Onsite registration starts at 11:30am
Venue: Aloha Cybercafe (Beside Clementi Stadium)
12 West Coast Walk, West Coast Recreation Centre #03-12, S(127157)
Entry Fee: $24 per 4 man team
*Pre-registration of only $20 per team is now open at Aloha Cybercafe from 4th to 19th April.
*Pre-registration of only $20 per team will also be open at CyberAmazon @ Grandlink Square from 18th to 19th April.
Online Registration
Due to overwhelming response, we have decided to implement a simple system for online registration. Participants only need to send an email containing:
a) Team Name & [TAG]
b) Member Names (Identify Team Captain)
c) Member NRIC
d) Member Emails
e) Member Contact Numbers
f) Bank Account Number the payment is from
Send the Email to xvfire_n_icevx@hotmail.com and make payment of SGD$20 to POSB Savings Account: 126-81873-4. A confirmation call will be made to the team captain to confirm the payment received!

Left 4 Dead Zombie Mania Rules
Format
- This is a Swiss Round Robin event. Players will be ranked based on their match wins and performance.
Head Judge and Captains
- The event Head Judge (HJ) is Darren Lee (98814930). Team Captains are assigned by the teams themselves during registration.
- The Team Captain has final say on all internal matters regarding his/her team.
Eligibility
- All players are welcome to participate in the event.
- Registration is by TEAM ONLY. A team is made up of 4 players.
- By registering, you are assumed to have read and accepted the rules of the event.
Schedule
- There will be 2 Days of play. Day 1 on the 25th April, and Day 2 on the 26th of April.
- Onsite registration on Day 1 closes at 1pm.
- Teams are advised to arrive at the venue by 12:30pm. A player briefing will be held at 1:00pm. The event will start on Day 1 at 1:15pm on the 25th April 2009.
- The Top 8 teams from Day 1 will proceed to Day 2. Teams are required to arrive at the venue by 1pm. The event will start at 2pm.
Personal Hardware
- Personal 'Plug & Play' hardware like mouse and keyboard will be allowed in the event. Players are liable for the functionality of their equipment.
In-Game Rules
- Players will join a CAL dedicated LAN server hosted locally.
Maps: All maps for this tournament will be picked randomly prior to each round. Maps will either be 'No Mercy' or 'Blood Harvest'.
Player Disconnect: In the event that a player is accidentally disconnected from the match, he/she must try to reconnect to the server. Gameplay will continue without that player in such an event.
Gameplay:
1) The decision to pick sides will be determined by a coin flip. The winner of the coin flip gets to decide.
2) Survivors and Infected will have a 2 minute strategy planning time at the start of each chapter. These times start once all players have connected to the server. Once all teams are ready, or when the time is up, the HJ will call for the match to start, which will be signaled by the Survivors leaving the safe zone.
Sportsmanship: Any players found being malicious toward other players (excessive swearing, assault, etc) will be disqualified from the event. If a player is disqualified, his team must play the rest of that match without him/her, but is welcome to find a permanent replacement for future matches.
Exploits/Cheats: The use of exploits and cheats will not be tolerated and will result in the player/s getting disqualified from the event. If you're unsure of any actions being an exploit, please ask the Head Judge. (Examples of exploits include but not limited to: Hunter pouncing under saferoom door, Over Fence jump in Blood Harvest 4, Skipping any crescendo event without triggering it. Examples of actions not considered exploits include, but not limited to: Closet Camping, Tank Parking, Hiding Infected in Safe Room)
Final Decision: The Head Judge has final decision in any situation which occurs during the event.
Disclaimer: The event organizers have the right to amend and update the rules without any prior notice.

I believe Timing Run is for Campaign mode, which they do not have for this event.

@minimantah: The other thread is actually the preliminaries for this compy. That one doesn't have Campaign mode either...

That was the original idea for the event. The ideas was to run the event as a VS mode main event, and speed runs as a side event. However, the speed runs were cut due to complications with the game itself. The game was made to be unpredictable, thus it was highly replayable. However, this made speedruns unfair, as some people get less mobs, no tanks etc while others did.
the prizes was merged with the VS mode to make a better event overall for the players =)

and there has been a rules update:
Personal Hardware

This means that players are allowed to use their own hardware (eg. mouse). However, players will not be able to install software like drivers etc.
